A Food Lovers fan has asked…”I like cereal for breakfast most days, I’d like a new idea for lunch and I do like snacks, especially in the afternoon…what could a day look like for me?”
This Meal Plan for a day uses lots of half serves of fruit and dairy as well as an open sandwich to spread food out over meals and snacks.
Meal Plan for A Day
Breakfast
2 Weetbix = 1 larger carb
1/2 cup fruit = 1/2 fruit
1/2 cup low fat milk = 1/2 dairy
2 Tbsp no-added sugar, low fat yogurt = 1/4 dairy
Morning Snack
Chocolate Yogurt Pot & Skim Piccolo Latte
80g no added sugar, low fat yogurt mixed with 1 tsp no added sugar drinking chocolate = 1/2 dairy
1/2 cup fresh fruit = 1/2 fruit
Skim Piccolo Latte = 1/4 Dairy
Lunch
Open Chicken, Mango & Chicken Sandwich
1x 40g slice grain bread = 1 smaller carb
40g sliced chicken breast = 1 smaller protein
2 cups salad = 2 vegetable
1 tsp dressing mayo (on bread) = 1 fat
2 tsp white wine vinegar & oil dressing (on salad) = 1 fat
a small pinch of flaked almonds
a pinch of small diced fresh mango
Afternoon Snack
Grainy Toast with Fruit and Cheesecake Cream
1 slice grain bread = 1 smaller carb
1/2 cup sliced fruit = 1/2 fruit
1 & 1/2 Tbsp Cheescake Cream = 1/4 dairy
Dinner
Kerala Fish Curry (Meen Mollee)
150g Kerala Fish Curry = 1 larger protein
1/2 cup cooked rice = 1 smaller carb
1 cup salsa (chopped tomato, cucumber, red onion with lime juice and coriander) = 2 serves vegetables
1/4 cup raita (yogurt mixed with chopped red onion, dill and a pinch each of garam marsala, salt and sugar) = 1/4 dairy
1 small pappadom (cooked in microwave for 60 sec)
Dessert
Poached Pear with Cheesecake Cream
1/2 poached pear = 1/2 fruit
1& 1/2 Tbsp cottage cream = 1/4 dairy
pinch flaked almonds
